Using my laptop to view movies on my TV: VGA to Component?

I have an Asus netbook. The output thing for video is VGA. I want to use my computer to play movies on my TV. The TV is an older projection big screen. From what it looks like, I need a component connection to connect to my TV. So I guess this means I need a VGA to component cable. What is the best bet for me?

A VGA to YPbPr scan converter, unless your TV can input RGB.

What kind of cable do I need to view movies from my computer onto my tv?

I have a Vizio 32" lcd tv. It has a plug in on it that looks like the kind of plug in on the computer monitor. I am assuming that is what this is for. What is the name of the cable and are there different kinds? If so, what kind would I need to view movies? Do I have to unplug the computer monitor from the tower? How much approximately does one of these cost for a 25 foot? Thanks in advance.

You need a VGA Cable (this is how I connect my computer to my TV). Most newer TV's have these - from what you describe that is what it most likely is.

If you have a decent graphics card it should have two video outputs (1 VGA and 1 DVI). DVI (digital video) is better and you should use that to connect to your monitor and the VGA to your TV. You can have both connected at the same time.

You can pick up a 25ft. cable from Amazon.com for about $10.

Good luck!
