Why do some Christians denounce homosexuality but support war?
This was brought to my attention after reading “The Laramie Project.” Alright, so, according to the Bible, homosexuality is a sin. And many of my Christian friends will say “that’s so gay.” or passionately denounce homosexuality. Now here’s what gets me….then they turn around and play war games or watch war movies. Like Christians all say we’re saved by grace, but it seems like they say, “you’re saved by grace, unless your gay, thats a disqualification.” What if there was one island where a million homosexuals who practiced abstinence lived, and let’s say, ten people who were obsessed with lust. And if you committed lust you weren’t allowed into their weekly pride rally, because you’re too lustful. Why do we just pick and choose what sins we think are more serious than others? whether or not homosexuality is a sin I’m not going to get into, I just had a hard time making my point in another fashion.
One of the first places I went after I got saved was to the gay bar! JC’s. I had been very involved with the gay community, partying and working with our AIDS/HIV projects. This was back in the 80’s. These guys were so happy to hear my news of being saved! I do get tired of hearing that the only sin is being gay … people are so willing to point a finger but never look into their own heart and see themselves! We’re all God’s children …we need to remember that no sin is worse than another sin, and the only unforgivable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. If we’d only loved they neighbor a long time ago maybe the world wouldn’t be in the shape it’s in today!
