A Look At Some Vintage Gay Films

When discussing vintage gay porn, it is impossible not to mention 1908's Le Menage Moderne du Madame Butterfly. Not only is this film, directed by Bernard Natan, a stunning example of vintage gay porn, it is also the first known film to depict hardcore bisexual and homosexual acts. The French film has a complex plot and the production value of the movie are exceptionally high. Because of legal restrictions, early gay porn was called forced to remain underground. That which was made commercially available was laughably tame and consisted largely of individual men wearing a g-string or in shorts posing like a body builder.

As for American vintage gay porn, also known as stag films, most historians agree that the first ever hardcore gay scenes are found in 1929's The Surprise of a Knight. Featuring homosexual intercourse exclusively, the movie focuses on two individuals: the lady and her gentleman caller. After flirting for awhile, the lady plops down on the sofa with her rear in the air, exposing her bare buttocks. The gentleman caller, also known as the knight promptly enters her.

After both individuals orgasm, the man walks off screen. Immediately afterward, the lady raises her skirt to reveal the surprise: she is really a he. The gentleman caller then returns onscreen and helps the lady remove the rest of his clothing, then the two dance together. After a cutaway, the lady is shown wearing a business suit, then winks at the camera and walks off of the screen.

The Surprise of a Knight led a brief movement of hardcore homosexual porn during the days of stag film in the era before it was banned by the legislative branch of the United States government. It wasn't until 1970 that porn became legally commercially available, and it wasn't until 2003's Supreme Court ruling in Lawrence vs. Texas that sodomy laws were decided to be unconstitutional.

When one thinks of how far the industry has gone and how much individuals and homosexual groups had to overcome to advance the cause, it really makes that type of porn more titillating. While hardcore gay porn is not as taboo as it used to be, at one time purchasing and possessing it was a jailable offense. Whether or not those types of consequences added to the eroticism of the media can be debated, but few people can argue that the advances made in terms of deregulation haven't been an overall positive.

France: Number One Destination For British Purchases Abroad

Although economic recession has plagued the UK since 2008, France is still the number one destination for British citizens desiring to buy property abroad. Fifty percent of foreign buyers in France are British, and the 2009 French Property Exhibition in London tallied an audience increase of 10 percent.

Cautious lending behaviour has given France a relatively stable housing market sheltered from extreme upturns and downturns. More than 80 percent of all French housing loans are fixed rate. During the recession that spread globally through 2009, more properties came available on the market in France, but the average price in real terms was down 6.4 percent.

Many British buyers are attracted to the Mediterranean climate of the French Riviera. In April when the lilacs are in bloom across the region, temperatures average 12° C. January is the coldest month in the south of France with an average of 8° C, while July and August -- the beach season -- climb to an average 23° C. The moderate weather draws many British expatriates, as does the relaxed French lifestyle, the exquisite cuisine, and a health system ranked as one of the best in the world.

While cost of living comparisons realistically depend on individual lifestyle, France has the sixth ranked economy globally. Food and drink costs are significantly lower than in other European nations. Dining out is expensive, but the markets offer affordable, high quality staples like meat and fish, milk, fruits and vegetables, and herbs. The average Briton spends approximately €200 to €350 per month on food. In France the amount averages less than €100 euro per week with greater volume acquired per amount spent.

Britons are drawn to the prominent cities of the French Riviera including:

Cannes - Home to the Cannes Film Festival, this elegant, modern city offers gated communities and villas with breathtaking ocean views in close proximity to premier shopping and dining.

Mougins - Located on the heights approximately 15 minutes outside of Cannes, forests of pine, olive, and Cyprus trees surround the village of Mougins, mixing rural elements within easy reach of urban sophistication.

St Tropez - Known as a playground for the wealthy, the port city of St Tropez has a five kilometre shore of beaches for sailing, motorised water sports, windsurfing, and more.

Nice - The fifth largest city in France is also one of the world's oldest settlements. With breath-taking beaches and celebrated squares like the Place Masséna, Nice is an entrancing blend of old and new with a thriving museum and cultural district.

Other prominent locales in the French Riviera include the Cap d'Antibes, a resort town between Cannes and Nice; Villefranche sur Mer to the east of Nice, featuring a natural, deep harbour; and Cap d'Ail, a modern seaside resort bordering the Principality of Monaco. Quaint small towns and villages dot the region, ensuring that expatriates can find an area that suits their needs and tastes.

Attracted by high availability, falling prices, favourable lending policies, a moderate climate, and a relaxed and affordable lifestyle, it is little wonder that France remains the number one destination for British citizens looking to buy property abroad.

Is this term really racist? Please answer and help!?

Okay, so, while watching a film about the French and Indian War, there was a scene where the Indians (Native Americans of course) killed innocent women, and brutally beat a prisoner (with sticks and stuff) while chanting and whatever. In disgust, I called the Indians 'savages' while doing this. Apparently now, several students in my class are lashing out at me, and claiming this is a racist remark. I will let you decide, but I will say, to my defense, that I would've said that about the British if they did the same, and I said what I said after seeing something which I thought worthy of using savage for. Please tell me what you think, my friends made a bet with me about this, and I would appreciate a good answer! So thanks, and please answer and help!

Typically it would describe a behavior. What you described doesn't sound racist.
