How do you (personally) save money?
Among other things, I canceled my cable and rent movies from Netflix. I also tear dryer sheets in half and take sodas from home instead of buying them from the machines or cafeteria at work.
I think you're doing a great job - many people are too lazy to do what you're doing already!
One thing I do that really helps (besides shopping for printable coupons online and in magazines) is, when I see something that I really want to buy (all the time!), I think of how many hours I would have to work to pay for that item. For example, I make $8.00 an hour in sales, (but actually less if you account for taxes and stuff) - If I see a $80.00 dress I really want, I think, "hmm, if I went to work one day and worked 10 hard hours on my feet and at the end of the day my boss handed me that dress, would I be happy, or would I be disgruntled and prefer money for other things?" Usually, I conclude that I would prefer money for other things, and I don't buy, but occasionally splurge a few times a year!
Basically, think of the aount of hours you would have to work for and see if the costs outweight the benefits

However, when there is quick growth in an industry and a rapid fight for companies to reach the top, there is often quite a bit of confusion for consumers.

Is In-Store Return and Rental a Benefit or an Added Cost?

Never underestimate the intelligence of marketers. Most of Blockbuster's marketing material promotes its 1 DVD out at a time plan at $9.99 per month, suggesting that Blockbuster is cheaper than Netflix who commonly advertises its 3 DVD out at a time plan. In reality, the two plans are almost identical in price.
Blockbuster's most popular plan of 3 DVD's out at a time rings in the same as Netflix's comparable plan at $17.99 per month. In fact, Blockbuster is actually a bit more expensive than Netflix because they charge tax on the monthly rate while Netflix does not.
Deciding Which Online DVD Rental Company is Right for You
If you live close to a participating Blockbuster and are pretty good at returning movies on time, Blockbuster Total Access might be right for you. If you don't have the best history of returning movies on time, Blockbuster Total Access can still be a good plan, you just may want to limit your number of in-store rentals.
However, if you only plan on renting by mail, Netflix may be the better option since the monthly rate is a bit lower due to the fact that Netflix does not charge taxes as Blockbuster does. The good thing about both of these plans is that there are no commitments. You can try one and if you don't like it, try the other.

I do have a membership, and I am on the site now but do not see where to buy them. I'm thinking they may not be doing that anymore.
I was having this same issue - called Netflix directly and they no longer offer this service due to unusually high demand. Shame - I used it a lot.
